Protection of Skin from Sun Rays

Why skin should be protected from sun Rays:


There are many people who spent there most of the time in outdoor and love being in sunlight, but they don’t know that the sun can damage there skin and also responsible for the risk factor of skin cancer and also many serious consequences. So there should be a safe guard needed to protect the skin from harmful sun rays, the easiest way of  skin protection is to use sunscreen, it absorbs, reflects or scatters UV rays which are a invisible rays comes from the sun that causes sunburn and other harmful damages .

UV light can be divided into three wavelength band as:


  • UVA ultraviolet A (reaches earth)
  • UVB ultraviolet B (reaches earth)
  • UVC ultraviolet C (not reaches earth)


Skin protection tips from Sun Rays


  • Apply sunscreen liberally 30 minutes before going outdoors and reapply about every two hours. Use it even on cloudy or hazy days. UV rays can penetrate cloud cover, use sun screen regularly because it absorb UV rays before they can cause any damage to your skin because the sun’s energy penetrates deeply into the skin and damages DNA of skin cells. This damage may ultimately lead to skin cancer.


  • Try to avoid the sun contact from 10 am to 4 pm because the rays of the sun are very harmful during these hours. Try to cover your head and body while you are going out, wear tightly woven clothing that covers your arms and legs and a broad-brimmed hat.


  • Use umbrella while going outside in sun, use small umbrellas that are offered for the sole purpose of sun protection are double lined. The inside lining should be dark to help absorb reflected or indirect UV they also have label showing the UPF level.

  • UV ray causes cataracts, macular degeneration and melanoma of the eye. For prevention one should use sunglasses, which is fit comfortably on face. Wraparound sunglasses offer the best UV protection because they prevent UV from hitting your eyes from the side of your face. Always check the label. If the standards set forth by the Center for Devices and Radiological Health in the FDA has been met, the label will list a code. 99.5% UV blocked is a good standard for UV protection.
