Acne

Skin condition characterized by plugging and inflammation that involves the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. It can take many forms including blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, and nodules, a skin disease caused by overactive oil glands. A common skin eruption that usually appears on the face, chest, and back. Commonly begins in adolescence when the oil glands enlarge and become inflamed. This skin condition also known as pimples that occurs when sebaceous glands become blocked or inflamed to varying degrees.

Acne affects most teenagers to some extent.  However, the disease is not restricted to any age group; adults in their 20s – even into their 40s – can get acne.
